It's Wednesday morning and our team is getting ready to head out to meat another short-term team from Austin, TX for lunch (at a place called "Malibu Steakhouse"... sounds pretty nice, eh?)! So far the trip has been amazing and our entire team is drawing closer to Jesus each day. The 5 little girls are champs and have made the trip SO much fun!
Sadly, our leaders Danny and Lisa were not able to make the trip with us because Danny got pneumonia and the doctors advised that they not come. We were so bummed, and we miss them terribly, but God has been so gracious in uniting our team and really building a family among us as we work together to encourage each other, help the moms with the kids, help adjust to a different culture, etc... it's really amazing and I am so thankful for how God has provided all we need.
Surprisingly, July is cool season (meaning 70s and 80s, haha) in Malang, so we're not dying in the heat! This is the biggest blessing for Sarah and I who experienced the intense heat and humidity last year and were dreading it. It's been cool and so refreshing at night at in the early morning. Normally we wake up at around 5am right as the sun is lighting the sky. For me it's been sweet time to meet with God, pray, journal, worship, and just quiet my heart before each day.
Later today we're going up the mountain to a village called Kucur (Koo-chour) where we'll be staying for two days this weekend. It will give the parents a chance to see what it will be like for the kids. What I'm so excited for is to see my friend Eli ("Ellie") who I met last year - she is an incredible woman who loves God and loves her entire village with more passion than I could express!
Alrighty, well it's time to head out, but hopefully I can give you more of an update later today!
much love!!
blessings!
Welcome to my blog!
It's always a work in progress... as all of our lives are as well. I hope that this blog can serve as an update on life, and also just a place to share the things the Lord teaches me with each passing day. He has been so good to me, and blessed me beyond what I could ask or imagine, and I'm believing to know even more of His goodness in the days to come.
I hope you are blessed each time you visit this page.

Yay for my first post!!! Almost there!
So... before we were ready to board our last flight from Hong Kong to Surabaya, Indonesia we stopped to get a drink (coconut mango bubble tea...mmmm) to take on board and... FREE INTERNET ACCESS!!!
So quick update: we've made it all the way from Boston to New York, then to Vancouver, then our longest flight to Hong Kong, where we were able to meet up with one of our sweet friends, Kathy and she took us to a delicious Hong Kong "Dim Sum" restaurant where they come around with carts of food and you just pick what you want if it looks good! As far as the weather, it was pretty hot and muggy, but it was a nice break from airports and refreshing to be in beautiful Hong Kong.
Well... sorry to be so short... but our flight is getting ready to leave and I'm so excited about finally getting to Indonesia!
Pray that our visas would go well once we get there and that our 3-hour car ride to Malang (where I will be for the next month) goes well!
love you all and miss you already!
